A Call to Support Our Beloved Team Member,
April Colburn, and Her Family

For years, April Colburn has been a major, creative force behind the Chautauqua Gazette’s stunning design. She has poured her talent, dedication, and late-night hours into crafting visuals that elevate each edition beyond expectation. She has helped support this publication and the advertisers who rely on her artistry, all while balancing the demands of her full-time day job and raising her four children.

Now, it’s our turn to support her.

April and her family recently suffered the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Mark, after a difficult hospitalization. As they navigate this unimaginable grief, the financial strain of medical bills, funeral expenses, and the challenges of moving forward have begun to weigh heavily.

April has given so much to her paper, our business and organizational partners, and the Chautauqua community. We want to rally together now to give back and cheer her on.

To support April and her family, you can follow this GoFundMe link:

We thank everyone in advance for their generosity and kindness. Please share this with others who may want to help. We appreciate your love and support for April and her family.

About The Gazette

The Chautauqua Gazette is a free, weekly community newspaper published every Monday, and delivered to over 250 newsstands throughout southern Chautauqua County. Lori Cornell purchased the paper from Stacey Hannon, founder and 14-year owner, in February 2024 upon Hannon's retirement. Both Hannon and Cornell share a passion for our community and value the importance of featuring the many businesses, organizations and happenings that help make Chautauqua County the special place we know and love. The Gazette is more than a newspaper. It's the story of our lives. It's part of the fabric of our community. It's Stacey Hannon's heart and soul, a precious gift to us all. Cornell takes seriously the opportunity to carry on Hannon's legacy and hopes to steward this special 'good news' paper long into the future. The Gazette team works hard to retain the newspaper's favorite features, present new and exciting stories, and continue to expand its reach and online presence. Cornell operates the Gazette under her business name, L. Cornell and Company, LLC.
